2FA / Two-Factor Authentication

Definition: A login process that requires two independent factors: for example, a password plus a code from an authenticator app.

Everyday analogy: You need the keys to your apartment door and the key to your mailbox. If someone steals just one of them, they can’t get in.

How we use it: In security hardening for WordPress and TYPO3, 2FA is mandatory for administrator accounts. We disable password-only logins.
