SEO Audit: An Honest Assessment of Your Website

Starting at €864 (net). Delivery in 5–10 business days. A prioritized action plan instead of an 80-page PDF. Dennis Hüttner himself.

Your website isn’t delivering the results it should. Visitors aren’t coming, rankings are stagnating, or you simply don’t know where you stand. Anyone who goes live after a relaunch or redesign without an SEO audit risks losing up to 95% of their traffic—we see this regularly in projects that were revamped without analysis.

That’s why, before we touch anything, we need a clear diagnosis—not guesswork, but data. Our SEO audit shows you what’s working, what’s holding you back, and where the greatest potential for optimization lies. Search engine optimization starts with understanding, not with changing.

What an SEO audit reveals

An SEO audit answers the one question most people ask themselves too late: What’s keeping my website from being found on Google?

We don’t just look at the surface. We examine the technical foundation, your content, your keywords, and your competition—using real data from Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, and professional SEO tools.

The result: Not an 80-page PDF full of jargon, but a clear plan with concrete recommendations for action. Prioritized by impact, so you know what to tackle first.

Terms Explained

SEO audit, website audit, or SEO check—which one is right for you?

These terms are often confused. As standard, we conduct a comprehensive SEO audit (technical + content + keywords + competition + AI/GEO). Upon request, we can narrow the scope.

Option 01

SEO Audit

Comprehensive analysis focused on search engine visibility. Technology + Content + Keywords + Competition—all in one document. This one.

Option 02

Website Audit

A broader perspective — SEO plus UX, accessibility, and conversion elements. Ideal when the site needs a strategic overhaul.

Option 03

SEO Audit

A quick overview, often offered as a free scan. Provides initial insights but does not serve as a basis for action.

Variant 04

On-Page Audit

Focus on what happens directly on your pages: meta tags, headings, content quality, and internal linking.

Variant 05

Technical SEO Audit

In-depth technical analysis: crawlability, load time, Schema, Core Web Vitals.

Technical SEO

What we examine in our SEO analysis

Technical Foundations

Load time, mobile display, page structure, and how Google reads your pages: Technical SEO determines whether your content even stands a chance.

  • Load time and Core Web Vitals — how fast your pages load and how Google evaluates this
  • Crawling and indexing — are your pages being indexed correctly by search engines?
  • Structured data — are you leveraging the technical capabilities to stand out in search results?
  • HTTPS, redirects, error pages — clean technical setup without dead links and redirect chains
  • Canonical tags — are the references to the main version set correctly? Over half of all websites have errors here
  • Crawl budget — does Google really crawl the important pages?
  • Mobile-first test — 68% of traffic comes from mobile devices

Content and Metadata (On-Page Audit)

Your pages may be technically flawless, but if the content isn’t right, nothing will rank.

  • Meta tags (title, description) — what search engines display
  • Heading structure — are H1, H2, and H3 logically structured?
  • Duplicate content — duplicate content that cannibalizes itself
  • Thin content — pages with too little substance
  • Internal linking — link juice distribution
  • Image SEO — alt text, file sizes, lazy loading

AI and GEO Readiness

Google and other search engines are increasingly relying on AI-generated answers. If you want to show up in search results, you need content that machines can understand and reference.

  • GEO Readiness — Generative Engine Optimization. Details on AI SEO.
  • AI Indexing — Do Gemini, ChatGPT, and Perplexity recognize your content as relevant?
  • Structured Answers — Do your pages provide clear, quotable statements?

Keywords and Visibility

  • Current Rankings — for which terms are you being found?
  • Keyword Potential — What terms is your target audience searching for?
  • Quick Wins — Keywords ranked 5–20 that can have a big impact with small adjustments

Competition

  • Visibility comparison — how do you stack up against the top 3?
  • Content gaps — which topics are others covering that you aren’t?
  • Backlinks and backlink profile — which ones help, which ones hurt?

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About SEO Audits

Twelve questions we’re always asked during the initial consultation—answered directly, without any marketing jargon.

What is the difference between an SEO audit, an SEO analysis, and an SEO check?

All three essentially describe the same thing: a systematic review of your website to identify SEO weaknesses. Differences in scope: An SEO check is often a quick overview (for us: part of the free initial consultation), an SEO analysis delves deeper into specific areas, and an SEO audit is the most comprehensive form—covering technology, content, keywords, and competition in a single report.

How much does an SEO audit cost?

The standard SEO audit starts at €864 net (8 hours). Express audits start at €1,620, and enterprise audits start at €3,240. All prices are hourly (€108/hour) and billed in 15-minute increments. For smaller websites with fewer than 50 pages, the cost is often reduced—you only pay for what’s actually done.

Is there a free SEO audit?

A comprehensive audit with well-founded recommendations isn't available for free—the effort involved is simply too great. What is free: a 15-minute initial consultation with an initial assessment of whether a full audit is worth it for you. This isn't a substitute for a full audit, but it does provide some initial guidance.

What is the difference between an SEO audit tool and a human audit?

SEO audit tools (Sistrix, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog) provide raw data, but no prioritization or context. We use these tools as a data foundation. The evaluation is performed by an experienced professional (Dennis)—not an automated report with a meaningless "72/100" score.

Can I implement the results myself?

Yes. The action plan is written in a way that allows you or your developer to work with it. Each recommendation includes an explanation of what to do and why. If you need assistance, we can handle the implementation—but that’s not a requirement.

Do I need any prior technical knowledge?

No. The report is written in plain language, and technical terms are explained. During our one-on-one meeting, we’ll clarify anything that’s unclear. You don’t need to be an SEO expert to understand the results and make decisions.

How long does an SEO audit take?

Typically 5–10 business days after we gain access to Search Console (standard audit). For urgent projects, an express audit is available in 3 business days.

Is an SEO audit worthwhile even for small websites?

Yes. Especially for smaller websites with 10–50 pages, there are often quick wins that deliver measurable results with minimal effort. The audit effort is correspondingly lower, but the hourly rate remains the same.

Do you also assess AI readiness and GEO?

Yes. Since Google has been increasingly relying on AI-generated responses (AI Overviews, Gemini), we’re checking whether your content is optimized for this. GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) refers to whether AI systems recognize and cite your content as a source. For more details, see AI SEO.

What happens if the audit doesn't find any issues?

Then let us tell you this: We don’t sell you services you don’t need. If your website is technically sound and your content is on point, you’ll receive confirmation and recommendations on where to invest next. See the “Precision Commitment” section above.

Do I need an audit even though my website is "up and running"?

Often, yes. Especially websites that are already “up and running” have untapped potential: keywords just outside the top 10, uncovered topic clusters, and technical baggage from past relaunches. An audit reveals where the next level of growth lies.

What if my website has just been hacked or is down?

This isn't an audit case—it's an emergency. Response within 30 minutes, even at night and on weekends—via Code-Rescue.

15-Minute Check

Clarity, not gut feelings — in 15 minutes

You know something isn't right. We'll figure out what it is. The initial consultation is free and lasts 15 minutes—afterward, you'll have an initial idea of whether an SEO audit makes sense for you.
