Duplicate Content

What Is Duplicate Content?

Duplicate content refers to identical or very similar content that is accessible via multiple URLs, either internally on the same site or externally across different domains. Google then selects a “canonical” version on its own and often ignores the others. A direct penalty is rare, but a gradual loss of visibility is common. At Waterproof Web Wizard, we address duplicate content in a targeted manner: canonical tags, 301 redirects, parameter exclusion in robots.txt, and consolidation of parallel pages, based on priority, not across the board on a whim.
