Heat Maps

What are heat maps?

Heat maps are visual representations of user behavior on a page. Click heatmaps show where users click; scroll heatmaps show how far users scroll; move heatmaps show mouse movements; attention heatmaps combine multiple signals. Providers: Hotjar, Mouseflow, Microsoft Clarity (free), Plerdy. At Waterproof Web Wizard, we use heatmaps as an introduction to CRO, they quickly generate hypotheses, but they’re always just a starting point, not proof. Statistically valid conclusions can only be drawn through A/B testing or quantitative analysis in GA4.
