Indexing

What is indexing?

Indexing is the process of adding a URL to a search engine’s index. Only indexed pages can rank. Prerequisites include successful crawling, sufficient quality from Google’s perspective, no active blocking mechanisms (noindex, robots.txt, canonical tags pointing to other URLs), and a clean 200 status code. At Waterproof Web Wizard, we check indexing via Google Search Console on a per-URL basis and in bulk using the Coverage Report, for rejected or unindexed pages, we systematically investigate the cause rather than simply triggering a re-indexing across the board.
