Mobile-First Indexing

What is mobile-first indexing?

Mobile-first indexing means that Google primarily crawls and indexes the mobile version of a website. Content that is only available on the desktop version is largely ignored for ranking and indexing purposes. Since July 2024, mobile-first indexing has been in effect across the board for all websites. Consequence: Websites that display significantly less content, different structured data, or missing internal links on mobile will harm their desktop rankings. At Waterproof Web Wizard, we check the mobile and desktop views for parity, the same content, the same structured data, just a tailored presentation.
