// glossary entry
Plugin (WordPress)
Definition: A WordPress plugin that adds functionality, such as a contact form, online store, SEO tools, or caching. The WordPress equivalent of a TYPO3 extension.
Everyday analogy: Like apps on a smartphone. Each one is useful on its own, but too many of them slow down the device and make it vulnerable to attacks.
How we use it: As part of our WordPress maintenance contract, we check plugin updates and security monthly. Outdated plugins are the most common point of vulnerability.
