TYPO3 Upgrade / Migration

What is a TYPO3 upgrade?

A TYPO3 upgrade is the process of upgrading an existing TYPO3 installation to a new major version, usually along the LTS line (v10 → v11 → v12 → v13). This includes migrating to Composer, checking extension compatibility, addressing breaking changes in Extbase and Fluid, database migrations, template updates, and a clean test deployment. At Waterproof Web Wizard, we always plan TYPO3 upgrades to include a staging run, an extension audit, and a documented rollback plan. A spontaneous upgrade on the live system without a buffer is strictly off-limits in production environments.
