Google Analytics

What is Google Analytics?

Google Analytics is an umbrella term for Google’s analytics service. The only version currently in production is GA4 (Google Analytics 4, since July 2023). Earlier versions, such as Universal Analytics and Urchin, have been discontinued. When people say “Google Analytics” today, they usually mean GA4, you can find the details in our GA4 entry. At Waterproof Web Wizard, we assist clients with GDPR-compliant GA4 setup or recommend EU alternatives such as Matomo and Plausible when circumstances require it.
