Session Recordings

What are session recordings?

Session recordings are video-like recordings of individual user sessions. They show mouse movements, clicks, scrolling, form entries, and page transitions, in an anonymized form. They are useful for identifying UX issues, form abandonment, and unexplained bounce rates. Providers: Hotjar, Mouseflow, Microsoft Clarity. Data protection is key: input data must not be stored in plain text, keystrokes are masked, and consent is mandatory. At Waterproof Web Wizard, we use recordings specifically on critical user journeys, not for mass monitoring, but as a focused diagnostic tool for specific UX hypotheses.
