TypoScript

Definition: TYPO3’s configuration language, which determines how content from the backend is displayed on the frontend, which menu, which template, and which caching settings.

Everyday analogy: Like the script for a play. The actors (content) and the stage (templates) are there, TypoScript determines who appears where and when.

Why we use it: A clean TypoScript structure is key to maintainability and performance. Poorly structured TypoScript is the most common cause of slow TYPO3 sites.
