Downtime

Definition: The period of time during which a website or service is unavailable. It is usually measured in minutes per month or as a percentage per year.

Everyday analogy: Like a store with its shutters down. Customers stand in front of it, see nothing, and walk away.

How we use this: In every maintenance contract, we define maximum downtime and our response time. Downtime without an SLA is a gamble.
